Neon Bible

Following my post on videos of the Arcade Fire on SNL, Pitchfork has now posted two tracks off the band's highly anticipated "Neon Bible" (Out Tuesday on Merge). I could talk about the band, but honestly, I'd just be repeating everything that's been said over and over agian before.

Arcade Fire on SNL

If you missed Saturday Night Live this week, you missed out. Rainn Wilson (aka Dwight Shrute) hosted and for once, it was actually pretty funny. The best part of the evening though was getting see the Arcade Fire rock out to tracks off their uber-hyped "Neon Bible" which comes out soon (I don't know the date, but if you read music blogs, you'll know when it happens). Below are both songs, "Intervention" (where Win smashes his guitar) and "Keep the Car Running"

Four Winds

When I saw Bright Eyes at Bonnaroo, Conor Oberst opened with his new track "Four Winds" and I fell in love with it. Pitchfork finally has an MP3 of the track which will be released both on the "Four Winds EP" as well as the upcomming full-length "Cassadega."

New Music Monday

Working at a college radio station is awesome. I love getting first dibs on upcomming music every week. This week, I'm insanely excited to get Andrew Bird's new album, "Armchair Apocrypha." I'm excited not only because Bird is one of my personal favorites, but because the album dosn't come out until March 20. After listening to it, I can tell you its the most stunning album I've heard so far this year. Working with Martin Dosh and Haley Bonar, this album builds on his previous masterpiece "...And the Mysterious Production of Eggs." If you buy one album in March that's not the Arcade Fire, make it this one.

Blonde Redhead have a new album comming out soon as well. The title track is starting to make its round on the blogs, and it's pretty good.

Finally, something I can't believe I havn't mentioned yet. If you havn't heard already, I'm very excited to announce that Kill Rock Stars will be releasing a collection of unreleased Elliott Smith tracks on May 8. Titled "New Moon," the album is comprised of unreleased tracks Elliott recorded during his time with the label, when he made "Elliott Smith" and "Either/Or." As a big fan of Elliott's I've heard a lot of the 24 tracks featured on this two-disc collection. Though most of the tracks have been taken down for KRS, check out The Elliott Smith B-Sides site for, well, B-sides and demos.

My Man My Moon

Feist has a new album, "The Reminder" out May 1. I found the first track off the album online, and it's awesome. Judging from the tracks I've heard, "Intuition" and "Honey Honey", this album is going to be just as good as "Let it Die" if not better.

Blue Sky Blue Revealed

According to Pitchfork, Wilco has revealed the tracklist for their new album, "Blue Sky Blue" which is due out on Nonesuch on May 15. Here's the tracklist:
01 Either Way
02 You Are My Face
03 Impossible Germany
04 Sky Blue Sky

06 Shake It Off
07 Please Be Patient With Me
08 Hate It Here
09 Leave Me (Like You Found Me)
10 Walken
11 What Light
12 On and On and On

I'm disappointed that I don't see "Let's Fight" on there, but it could have renamed. A lot of the tracks (and some that arn't listed) can be found here.

Brown Recluse Sings and Andrew Bird

About a week ago, I heard an awesome song on "Veronica Mars" and was pleasently surprised the next day to see it on "Scatterbrain." The band is called Brown Recluse Sings from Philly, and the song is a fantastic track off their Black Sunday EP called "Western Meadowlark." Listening to the EP, I hear the sound of Belle of Sebastian all over the place. It's pretty sweet. Be sure to check out their MySpace and get their EP (it's only $6!)

One of my favorite artists over the last few years, Andrew Bird, is comming out with a new album on March 20. The album leaked online, so the record company let this track stay up to hype it up. It's gotten heavy rotation on my iTunes and radio show. If the album is half as good as the song, I'll be in heaven.

Don't forget to listen to the show, Friday nights, 11:30-2. Also, check out the New Music Show I do with my roommate Jon where all we do is play the new music of the week. That's Monday afternoons, 3:30-5:30. Both can be streamed HERE I'm gonna get better at this blogging thing. I promise.

Relay for Life

My school is having another Relay for Life this year. I don't normally do this, but PLEASE donate for my team. Over the last two years, both of my grandmothers have been diagnosted with breast cancer. The money raised from Relay will go towards cancer research in the hopes of finding a cure. I would be greatful for any donation. You can donate by clicking here.
